Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction: Linking Policy and Practice

This six-week online course explores how to make disaster risk reduction more inclusive, equitable, and effective. Designed for practitioners and policymakers working in DRR, CCA, and humanitarian response, the course combines global frameworks with real-world case studies. Participants will gain practical tools to integrate inclusion and intersectionality into their daily work.

Module 1: Understanding Inclusive DRR

Explore what inclusion and intersectionality mean in disaster risk reduction. Understand how social, economic, and cultural factors influence vulnerability and resilience in different contexts.

Module 2: Engaging Marginalised Groups

Learn practical ways to identify and involve people who are often excluded from risk planning. Discover how participation builds trust and strengthens local disaster preparedness.

Module 3: Policy and Framework Alignment

Examine how the Sendai Framework, Paris Agreement, and SDGs connect to inclusive risk reduction. Analyse how national policies can better reflect community realities.

Module 4: Inclusive Early Warning and Anticipation

Study how early warning and anticipatory systems can reach everyone. Understand barriers to access and explore methods to make alerts actionable for diverse communities.

Module 5: From Policy to Practice

Translate inclusive policies into action. Review real-world case studies from global and local settings, and apply lessons to your own professional context.
